National Development and Reform Commission, China:
'China Day' - People's Republic of China: New Era of Renewable Energy in China - Past Accomplishments and Future Perspective

New Era of Renewable Energy in China - past accomplishments and future perspective':
Concepts of sustainable development have existed for thousands of years in Chinese culture. With rapid economic growth in recent decades, however, China faces immense challenges in dealing with power shortages and energy security issues, while at the same time developing a sustainable, environmentally-friendly energy regime. In recent years, the Chinese Government has dramatically stepped up the pace of its programs and targets for renewable energy development. China is in the midst of drafting its Renewable Energy Law to stimulate rapid progress.
At China Day, we will provide details on both domestic programs and international cooperation projects, including the governments programs for the largest renewable energy based rural electrification in the world; for large-scale wind farms that will increase wind capacity by 17 times to 20 GW by 2020 and the contents on China Renewable Energy Law.
