renewables 2004: High-calibre delegates from around the world
Programme now available on the Web

23 May 2004. Klaus Tpfer, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Peter Woicke, Managing Director of the World Bank and Enrique Iglesias, President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IADP), as well as 74 ministers from around the world are among the delegates at the International Conference for Renewable Energies in Bonn. With some 600 registered journalists, renewables 2004 is also enjoying an unexpectedly high profile in the media.

The conference programme offers an up-to-date overview of the sessions and speakers at the core conference, the approximately 60 side events, the numerous exhibitors and a wide range of accompanying events that are being run by a number of organisations. The programme is now available as a downloadable pdf file at www.renewables2004.de/en/programme/default.asp.
Another resource available on the conference Web site is the Conference Issue Paper which provides a summary of the core issues of renewables 2004. This central preparatory document will be handed out to all delegates at the beginning of the conference.

Some 2,000 international decision-makers in the fields of energy, environment, development and planning will meet from 1 to 4 June 2004 in Bonn to discuss how to establish a favourable political framework for renewable energies that will allow this market to flourish. Further issues include strengthening private and public sector financing, promoting human and institutional capacities and supporting research and development. At the 2002 World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schrder had invited all members of the international community to attend this conference.
