In and Around renewables 2004: Attractive Offers for Journalists
7 May 2004. At the invitation of the Federal Republic of Germany, more than 1000
international decision-makers in the fields of energy, environment, development
and planning will be meeting on 1-4 June, 2004, in Bonn, at the International
Conference for Renewable Energies. A preliminary draft programme will be in
place on the renewables website shortly.
The accompanying programme also promises numerous highlights, with some 60 side
events devoted to the many facets of renewable energy. These events are
organised by the governments, international organisations, NGOs and other
civil-society institutions participating in the Conference. The German
government, the United Nations, guest governments, associations and initiatives
will all be presenting their ideas and accomplishments on the 600 sq.m. of
exhibition space at the International Congress Centre Bonn (IKBB). Accredited
journalists are also warmly invited to attend the various evening events that
wind up each day of the Conference.
Another special offer for the media: on the afternoon of 2 June, the German
federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia is holding three half-day excursions and
inviting journalists to visit model renewable energy projects in that state.
These excursions are open to all journalists regardless of accreditation. Among
the sites to be visited are Hof Loick in Dorsten, where biomass is exploited for
energy, the wind energy testing field NRW in Grevenbroich, and
energy-contracting projects for the Rhine clinics in Bonn. Journalists may sign
up for these trips on the Internet at
www.renewables2004-nrw.de until 28 May. Further information about the
excursions may also be retrieved at this address.
The German Post World Net extends an invitation to all journalists accredited
for renewables 2004 to a guided tour of the Post Towers, located near the IKBB,
on 2 June. Further details of the programme are available at:
