From June 1 - 4, 2004, Bonn will host the International Conference for Renewable Energies.

The Conference Venue will be the International Congress Centre of the Federal Parliament Bonn.

Bonn is situated on the river Rhine in the west of Germany in North-Rhine-Westphalia, one of 16 German Federal States (Lnder). After the German reunification the Bundestag resolved in 1991 to relocate nine of the fifteen ministries to Berlin alongside the parliament. Since that time Bonn has been undergoing far-reaching structural changes. The city's future is to rest on five pillars: science and research, forward-looking business enterprises, culture, as well as national and international politics. Since July 1996 Bonn has been able to accord itself the appellation of an internationally experienced UN city. Twelve UN Organisations (among those the United Volunteers Programme, UNV, the United Framework Convention on Climate Change , UNFCCC, and the Permanent Secretariat for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, UNCCD), six federal ministries, more than 150 state and non-governmental establishments concerned with international and political development cooperation as well as numerous international academic institutions, all form part of the Center for International Cooperation (CIC) in Bonn today. The city is also a time-honoured management centre for international conferences, offering all the infrastructure required.

Bonn has been founded by the Romans and is Beethoven's birthplace. It does not only have an impressive musical life - there are also more than 20 museums.

When visiting Bonn there are - in addition to the Conference - many things to do and see (museums, art galleries, restaurants etc.) and it is easy to get around using the public transport system (german site) or by taxi.
