In order to conduct the conference at the highest possible level of expertise and ensure broad international acceptance of its outcomes, a careful preparatory process is underway (see also Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue).
 

• An  International Steering Committee (ISC) has been formed to advise the conveners regarding themes, structure and outcomes of the conference.
   
• Regional preparatory meetings take place to enable interested parties from countries and regions around the world to present their expectations for the conference and to discuss the subjects of their choice and the outcomes they are seeking.
   
• The National Advisory Committee (NAC) is the conference forum for German actors in the field of renewable energies and development cooperation.
   
• The preparations are being coordinated by an Organising Committee.
   
• The Conference Secretariat is provided by the Deutsche Gesellschaft f�r Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH (German technical cooperation) in cooperation with the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena).

The thematic preparation process is guided by the conference documents which are provided by the conference convenors.
