European Commission and EU Activities in the Field of renewable Energies

The side event will consist of three parts, i.e. research and development, policies and measures and third country co-operation.Research will focus on new highly efficient Photovoltaiccells, cost-effective off-shore wind farms in deepwater and developing biofuels for transport needs. Policies and Measures will include reports and presentations from the European REC in Berlin 2004. Third country co-operation will highlight programmes such as EU Energy Initiative and COPENER sub-programme.
