Cambodia's Renewable Energy Commitments

The Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to the reduction of poverty, and will promote the use of renewable energy based rural electrification as a means for achieving this. Consequently Cambodia takes this opportunity to make the above commitments to the international community. These commitments are made in the spirit of international cooperation to find solutions for poverty and sustainable development.

The general objective of Cambodia’s RE strategy is to use local natural resources to provide least-cost options for electricity services which will help improve social welfare and reduce poverty through income generating activities. This side event will present details of Cambodia’s plans and commitments in the area of renewable energy and will be important in continuing the momentum necessary for Cambodia to achieve its ambitious goals.
