International Network on Gender and Sustainable Energy and LIFE e.V. (ENERGIA), Focal Point Gender Justice and Sustainability:
Renewable Energy – Gender Perspectives in North and South
Within renewable energy production and consumption there is a gender bias – in the South, traditional renewable energy sources, particularly traditional biomass, place a disproportionate burden on women and they are lacking access to modern renewable energy sources. In the North and in the South participation of women and men in decision making in renewable energy planning and financing as well as impacts of measures promoting renewable energy are different.
The event will
1. discuss gender differences in renewable energy
2. introduce instruments helping to prevent unequal impacts
3. provide sucessful examples and experiences
