The Sustainable Energy Finance event "Creating the climate for change" was organised by UNEP Energy, UNEP Finance Initiative and BASE (Basel Agency for Sustainable Energy). The event brought together international financiers and project developers to discuss finance-related issues in the sustainable energy sector relevant for both developing and industrialised regions. Participants were provided with the tools, support and networks needed to drive the cycle of financial innovation focused on a greening of the energy mix.

"Creating the climate for change" helped decision-makers in the finance sector review the challenges and opportunities associated with investing in clean energy. The outcomes are practicable solutions for bringing down the barriers to investment and deepening the market exposure to sustainable energy systems.The BASE Investment Forum formed part of the two-day event and enabled investors to make first-hand contact with innovative sustainable energy companies and projects.
