Deutschlandfunk is media partner of renewables 2004

26 May 2004. Deutschlandfunk is the media partner of the 2004 International Conference for Renewable Energies in Bonn. Between 1 and 4 June, the national information broadcaster will be reporting live every day from the intergovernmental conference which will be attended by over 1,500 international decision-makers from the fields of energy, environment, development and planning. Over the course of the Bonn conference, delegates will debate the core challenges on the way to sustainable development, including the supply of energy to the poor and conservation of the global climate.

The Cologne-based broadcaster will be covering renewables 2004 from 30 May to 4 June, analysing the role of renewable energies, their economic efficiency and contribution to climate protection, and their significance in terms of development policy. On 30 and 31 May Deutschlandfunk will focus its reports on background features such as the current state of research, the visions and economic perspectives of sources of renewable energy - sun, wind, water, biomass and geothermal energy. From 1 June, DLF presenters and reporters will report live from the International Conference Centre Bundeshaus Bonn (IKBB) in programmes entitled 'Umwelt und Landwirtschaft' (Environment and agriculture) and 'Forschung aktuell' (Current research). Other live broadcasts from Bonn include 'Campus und Karriere', a career programme, and 'Marktplatz' (Market square), which takes a look at the financial and climatic benefits of investing in renewable energies.

Deutschlandfunk in Cologne and DeutschlandRadio Berlin are the two parts of DeutschlandRadio, which launched its first broadcast on 1 January 1994. Some 8.5 million Germans regularly tune in to both programmes. As a corporation under public law, Deutschlandradio is financed by all 16 federal states as well as the affiliated public television stations ARD and ZDF.
